Main car body- At the start of the competition Dylan drew up sketches and designs for two cars. This car was designed with a thin profile, because as we learnt from last years season thin cars tend to go faster. Although there are not a lot of obvious aerodynamic features displayed the most notable one is the rear wheel guard. The guard reduces the drag. In contrast if we left the rear of the wheel empty it would create an air cap that would create turbulence and thus slow down the car. The nose cone was designed with a smooth surface so that the air would flow smoothly across the main body of the car. The front of the car is a triangular shape to pierce through the air.

Rear wing- As we learnt last year from the Entry Class competition, manufacturing the rear wings in the same body as the car is very risky for it may easily snap or break apart from the main body. So we designed 3 cylinder-like shapes to attach a 3D printed wing to the car. The front of the wing is curved and very smooth so that the air will flow across the wings creating a minimal amount of pressure. Because of the wings shape it will send the air upwards and downwards, hens not creating an air gap and turbulence.

Front wing- Likewise with the rear wing we decided to connect the wing and the body via drilled holes and cylinder poles. The wing has curved edges to smoothen the air’s journey. The wing’s shape pushes the air upwards in a straight path so that it should hit the front wheels as little as possible (Which is key to the car’s speed.)
